The scalp line of a portrait can be the most challenging to get exactly right. Hair is already a challenge, but then throw in the scalp line, and you may want to give up. BUT DON'T! Darrel can give you valuable techniques to create wonderful portraits with the scalp line looking natural.

In this 3 week Skills Challenge, Darrel will teach you:
** How to start with the 4H to create the first light layer as you start developing the contour by increasing those shaded values.
**How to lightly designate the direction and placement of the hair, while using our Tapered Strokes and a sharp pencil, which are so very important when entering the scalp 
**How to progress to your darker pencils to create the density as the hair becomes thicker
**How to show the depth between the hairs and the range of value to show the highlights and shadowed areas, such as under the wave and as the hair gets darker towards the back and sides to contrast with the brightest highlights, showing depth, contour, and light direction.
